Response to Tropical Storm Marco and Hurricane Laura

Dear Team TransCor,

In preparation for Tropical Storm Marco and Hurricane Laura, TransCor has been actively monitoring the changing activity of both storms. Our Senior Leadership Team is maintaining direct liaison with CoreCivic/FSC's Emergency Operations Center (EOC) as well as those facilities in potentially impacted locations. Although previously expected to be in the path of Hurricane Laura, at this hour, there are no plans to evacuate the Houston Contract Detention Facility (HCDF). We do have resources positioned in Houston, Texas, and until further notice, they will remain on standby to assist in any way necessary. And because the path of a tropical storm and a hurricane often shifts, it's very important that we all remain vigilant and prepared.

Please stay tuned for further updates.

Update (Thursday, August 27, 2020 12:22 PM CST):

All resources previously placed on standby to assist in the potential evacuation of the Houston Contract Detention Facility (HCDF) and the Corpus Christi Reception Center (CCRC) have been instructed to stand down. My sincere appreciation to the Operations Leadership Team and all of the uniformed staff from HCDF, Eden, and STFRC that responded on such short notice Tuesday evening. Very grateful!

Although we were spared from evacuating HCDF and CCRC, we also are mindful that some of you may likely have family and friends living in the path of Hurricane Laura and Tropical Storm Marco. Our thoughts and prayers are with those families and communities.

Please stay safe!
