Honoring Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month
Dear Team TransCor,
This month is dedicated to honoring the legacy, culture, and contributions of our fellow Americans with historic roots in Asia and the Asian Pacific Islands. As we celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, I’m reminded of the incredible ways in which those we are celebrating have shaped our nation and our organization.
Dating back as far as the sixteenth century, Asian-born explorers began carving out the California coast. There are records of an “East Indian” being part of the Jamestown Settlement. From our nation’s very earliest days, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders have been an integral part of the American story. That being said, I would be remiss to not acknowledge the difficulties and hardships that many of them endured throughout our history. Despite centuries of slavery, oppression, and discrimination, their contributions to our nation cannot be overstated.
Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders have shaped nearly every aspect of the United States. Through labor and technology, their efforts and innovations have been a cornerstone of our economy and changed businesses forever. With art, cuisine, and language, they’ve shaped our everyday moments. As leaders, both socially and politically, many have held the trust of the American people and guided our nation. In truth, the America we love today would not be so had it not been for them.
At TransCor, we’re blessed to have the support and leadership of many who share in this heritage. Our own, Cydney Daane, is one such team member. Cydney works tirelessly in support of those we serve. She is a wonderful, personal example of the importance of this month. Our nation owes a debt of gratitude to families such as Cydney’s, the Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders who have shaped and will continue to strengthen our great nation.
For those celebrating their heritage this month, we join them in extending the utmost respect and appreciation. It is our honor to honor them.
Sincerely,
Curt Sullivan
President, TransCor America
