With Thanks on Veteran's Day
Dear Team TransCor,
On Wednesday, November 11th, we as a nation will pause to pay tribute and honor to America's military veterans. Throughout our nation's history, millions of American military veterans have honored us with their service.
Veterans are a cornerstone of our team at TransCor, and we wouldn’t be the company we are today if it were not for their dedication and continued service to our country. For us, Veteran’s Day is particularly meaningful — both for its history and what it means for the men and women we work alongside. Veteran’s Day has always been about sacrifice, peace, and justice — values the TransCor team pursues every day.
In 1919, President Wilson proclaimed November 11th as the first commemoration of Armistice Day with the following words:
"To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country's service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations…"
In 1938, November 11th was established as a national holiday — a day to be dedicated to the cause of world peace and to be celebrated and known as "Armistice Day." In 1954, Congress, at the urging of veterans service organizations, changed the name of the holiday from “Armistice Day" to “Veteran’s Day.” Since that time, it has been a day to honor American veterans of all wars.
The courageous actions of American service men and women have changed the course of history, touched lives, and spread freedom and democracy to nations around the world. As Americans, we owe a tremendous amount of gratitude to our veterans who, during both peace and war, have demonstrated a steadfast commitment to safeguarding the principles upon which our nation was founded.
An impressive 19 percent of our TransCor family have served or are serving in the Armed Forces. Please join me in thanking them for their dedication and military service.
May God bless our veterans and the United States of America.
Sincerely,
Curt Sullivan
President, TransCor America
